Trends in Contemporary Bengali Poetry of North Tripura: An Analysis of Poetics, Consciousness, and Aesthetic Theory Raju Nath, Department of Bengali, Tripura University, Tripura, India
ABSTRACT | ||
The contemporary Bengali poetry of North Tripura is marked by reflections on life and death, existential consciousness, poverty and deprivation, socio-political protest, pandemic experiences, and the intense struggle of human survival. Its simplicity of language combined with experimental forms—broken typography, prose-poetry, and innovative metaphors—gives these poems a distinct voice. Women’s perspectives, environmental awareness, memory, and emotional conflict also emerge as important elements. Despite being rooted in local realities, the poets evoke a universal humanism, turning every poem into a lyrical expression of the time, society, and the profound crises faced by people.
